AT&T will not get to plaster its logo on Jeff Burton’s Nextel Cup car after a federal appeals court judge ruled in favor of NASCAR. The 11th Circuit Court of Appeals said AT&T’s position lacks standing. With the Nextel Cup next year becoming the Sprint Cup, Sprint has the exclusive rights as the telecommunications company for the series, eliminating rival AT&T.
Kiffin is hospitalized
Two days after his new team won its first exhibition game under his leadership, Raiders coach Lane Kiffin was taken to a hospital with a viral infection. Kiffin, 32, who guided the Raiders to a 27-23 victory over the Arizona Cardinals on Saturday, had been feeling ill for a few days, a team spokesman said. It is not known when Kiffin will resume his coaching duties. The NFL’s youngest coach missed his day-after teleconference due to the infection. He did not feel well during the game, yet looked fine in his postgame news conference. “This morning when he woke up, from what I understand, he was feeling under the weather,” Raiders offensive coordinator Greg Knapp said. “[It’s] something he’s been fighting for the last two or three days.”
