The Sharks look to avoid being swept in the season series as they face the Pacific Division-rival Dallas Stars in their regular-season home finale today.

San Jose, which enters with a stellar 16-2-5 home record, seeks its first win against the Stars in four tries as it lost two low-scoring games in Dallas and dropped a 5-4 shootout decision at HP Pavilion.

The Sharks, who are 2-1-0 on their four-game homestand, can clinch a playoff spot with a win or as long as the game goes to overtime.

Joe Pavelski’s goal in Sunday’s loss to Columbus was the 149th of his career, tying him with Jeff Friesen for fifth place on the franchise list.

He trails only Patrick Marleau (404), Owen Nolan (206), Jonathan Cheechoo (165) and captain Joe Thornton (162).

Logan Couture was named the NHL’s Third Star of the Week on Monday. Couture, who leads the Sharks with 19 goals and is second on the club with 35 points, recorded three tallies and three assists in four contests last week.
