Saint Joseph’s coach didn’t waste his time scouting Pac-12

Saint Joseph’s men’s basketball coach Phil Martelli is like your East Coast family who thinks everything in the West is wacky.

After beating Cincinnati in the NCAA tournament on Friday, he asked a reporter in Spokane, Wash., “Do they sell marijuana in this town?”

They do.

A day later, Martelli admitted he and his people don’t know much about the Pac-12: “If you said to our players, ‘Did Oregon win the Pac-12 or did Arizona?’ They would lean to Arizona. As would basketball people in Philadelphia.”

To be fair, Oregon is the only team with a chance to reach the Sweet 16 on Sunday of the seven Pac-12 squads that made the tournament.

Dwight Howard was caught applying Stickum spray to his hands during the Houston Rockets’ game on Saturday.

According to a report by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Howard applied the sticky substance from a container that had tape concealing its label a’la Bugs Bunny in “Space Jam.” The difference is Mike’s Special Stuff made Toon Squad better; Howard finished the loss with 8 points on 2-for-7 shooting.

Kendrick Perkins, a man who is paid to be on an NBA basketball team, unleashed a dangerous clothesline on the Blazers’ Damian Lillard after getting beat off the dribble Friday night. After the game, Lillard expressed little animosity for the man who hasn’t affected an NBA game in a positive way in years.

I’m from Oakland, I’ve been punched before, I’ve been tackled before,” Lillard said, according to “It was a cheap play, but to me, it didn’t feel as bad as it might have looked. My focus was on winning the game and that was just two points easier than it probably would have been if I had gotten to the rim.”

Fun fact: Lillard has said the No. 0 he wears is actually an “O” for Oakland.

Richie Incognito, an offensive lineman infamous for bullying Stanford’s Jonathan Martin when they were teammates on the Dolphins, endorsed Donald Trump on Saturday.
