Giants closer Sergio Romo was added to the National League's All-Star Game roster on Sunday, taking the number of players who will represent the defending World Series champs in the Midsummer Classic up to four.
Catcher Buster Posey, second baseman Marco Scutaro and pitcher Madison Bumgarner were already part of the NL team.
“I've never really seen myself as an All-Star,” Romo said. “I've never really said it's one of my goals to make an All-Star team, but now that it's happening, I'm very proud. I mean, I'm an All-Star. Cool.”
Romo takes the spot of pitcher Jordan Zimmermann of the Washington Nationals, who started Sunday which made him inactive for Tuesday's All-Star Game. Romo, 30, is 3-4 with a 2.86 ERA with 21 saves. He has 38 strikeouts in 34²⁄³ innings pitched.
