Jeremy Roenick will make his Sharks debut Thursday at Edmonton due to rookie Devin Setoguchi's ankle injury.
Roenick, who has 495 career goals, was expected to be a healthy scratch in the season opener against the Oilers, but will step in at right wing. Roenick signed a one-year contract with the Sharks 10 days before the start of training camp.
Setoguchi was expected to be on a line with left wing Milan Michalek and rookie center Torrey Mitchell, who will be making his NHL debut in the 6 p.m. game. Setoguchi, selected by the Sharks with the eighth overall pick in 2005, was also slated to make his NHL debut before his ankle injury.
