QB Bethel-Thompson one of 13 49ers signed to reserve/future contracts

Former Balboa High School quarterback McLeod Bethel-Thompson was one of 13 players the 49ers signed to reserve/future contracts Wednesday.

Bethel-Thompson was claimed off waivers by the 49ers from the Minnesota Vikings on Oct. 9 before being placed on the practice squad on Nov. 27, where he spent the remainder of the season.

The other players signed were offensive lineman Carter Bykoski, safety DJ Campbell, running back Jewel Hampton, wide receiver Chuck Jacobs, guard Al Netter, defensive tackle Mike Purcell, wide receiver David Reed, wide receiver DeMarco Sampson, punter Colton Schmidt, cornerback Dax Swanson, defensive tackle Christian Tupou and wide receiver Devon Wylie.

Meanwhile, the 49ers also announced Tim Ryan would be replacing Eric Davis as the team’s radio analyst to work alongside play-by-play man Ted Robinson. Ryan has served as the color analyst for the 49ers’ preseason TV games the past three years and was formerly a Fox NFL analyst from 2002 to 2013.

Davis spent the last three seasons in the booth with Robinson.
