It looked as if a hard-fought game would end in regulation after Deend Parker took two defenders off the dribble and scored on a 5-foot floater with 2 seconds left to give the Lincoln boys’ basketball team a 49-47 lead over Wallenberg on Wednesday.
Instead, the Mustangs (16-9, 9-1 Academic Athletic Association) had to work overtime to earn a 58-57 home win.
Bulldogs guard Victor Chew caught a full-court pass from Chibuzo Emeka (23 points) and converted a layup at the buzzer to tie the game 49-49 at the end of regulation. Wallenberg (18-3, 8-1) then took a one-point lead late into the overtime and appeared poised to keep its perfect league record in tact until Parker (23 points) struck again. The junior drew a foul with 3 seconds remaining and sank two free throws to give Lincoln a 58-57 lead. This time, the Mustangs were ready and stopped the Bulldogs from getting a good shot to seal the win.
“It was a tough game,” Parker said. “I had to step up in crunch time and make plays.”

SAN MATEO — The cardiac Crusaders were at it again.
Anthony Lecue scored his only basket of the game on a layup at the buzzer as Riordan (14-6, 7-3) went on the road to defeat Serra (12-9,
4-6). The Crusaders have now won five games in a row, with three of those victories coming on made shots at the final horn.
Riordan led by two points late before Serra’s Tim Dunleavy drained a 3-pointer with 26 seconds remaining to tie the score 61-61. After a timeout, Crusaders point guard Daniel Cannon dribbled time off the clock before driving the lane and dishing off to Lecue.
Senior center Jorge Camacho scored 28 points and pulled down 18 rebounds to lead Riordan.
