Former USF center Casey transfers

Jared Casey, who was granted a release from his scholarship following the USF men’s basketball team’s midseason coaching change, will enroll at Seattle University.

The 6-foot-11 center averaged 1.8 points and 2.2 rebounds in 13.8 minutes per game in nine games this season for the Dons. He didn’t play following the Dec. 31 loss at Utah Valley State, which came five days after Jessie Evans’ last game at USF. Evans was replaced Dec. 26 by Eddie Sutton.

Meanwhile, new coach Rex Walters added another assistant to his staff, hiring former Cañada College coach Danny Yoshikawa, who has been an assistant at UC Santa

Barbara.
