Former Cal RB ‘surprised’ to return to Broncos

The Raiders announced Tuesday they re-signed wide receiver Andre Holmes. The contract is for one year and reportedly could yield as much as $3 million with $1 million guaranteed. Holmes scored four touchdowns on 14 catches for 201 yards last season. Meanwhile, his former teammate, guard J’Marcus Webb, signed with the Seattle Seahawks for $6.25 million ($2.5 million guaranteed) over two years.

After signing an offer sheet with the Miami Dolphins last week, former Cal running back CJ Anderson learned his winters won’t be so warm on Tuesday when the Denver Broncos matched his deal. Anderson said on ESPN’s NFL Live he was “surprised” the Broncos were interested in bringing him back. He received a $5.25 million signing bonus.

The 49ers’ already-tough division got tougher on Tuesday when the Arizona Cardinals traded for Chandler Jones, a pass rusher from the Patriots. The Patriots dealt him for guard Jonathan Cooper and a second-round pick. The Niners remained quiet, again, on the free agency front on Wednesday.

The Warriors return to action tonight against the New York Knicks. The second-most beloved player in the NBA (behind Stephen Curry, of course), Kristaps Porzingis, channeled his inner Steph on Tuesday when he nailed a shot from the tunnel at Oracle Arena. We’ll see if he’s able to shoot as accurately tonight when Draymond Green is blanketing him defensively.

Speaking on KNBR, Draymond Green showed his true Michigan State Spartans colors by blasting the University of Michigan football team for being “arrogant” and living in the past. That’s a fine opinion to hold as long as he wouldn’t fire Jim Harbaugh in favor of Jim Tomsula.
