Curry to miss game with concussion

Warriors guard Stephen Curry has been diagnosed with a mild concussion after hitting his head on the court during the fourth quarter of Monday night victory over the Utah Jazz, the team announced Tuesday.

Curry will not play in tonight’s game against the Memphis Grizzlies and his status moving forward is day-to-day.

In 10 games this sesson, Curry is averaging 19.9 points, 8.7 assists, 3.7 rebounds and 1.70 steals in 32.7 minutes per contest.

Curry was injured in the fourth quarter of the 98-87 victory at Utah. The star point guard left the game after hitting his head on the court in a scramble for a loose ball.

The Warriors said Tuesday that Curry’s only symptom was a headache, which had since dissipated.

Curry scored 22 points and dished out eight assists before leaving Monday’s game.

“I’ve got a pretty nasty headache. I hit the ground pretty hard, but I’ll be all right,” Curry said after the game. “Thankfully, the guys sealed the deal when I left.”

The injury comes at a bad time for the Warriors who are already without backup point guard Toney Douglas, who has a stress reaction of his left tibia.

Golden State has been hitting its stride of late, reeling off four straight wins.

One of the few teams to solve the Warriors’ high-powered offense are the Grizzlies. Memphis earned a convincing 108-90 triumph over Golden State at home on Nov. 9.

The Warriors are a different team in their own building, where they are 5-0 and are averaging 110.8 points. Memphis, however, is limiting opponents to 91.3 points while taking its last three — all on the road.

NOTES: The Grizzlies have taken 10 straight in the series and took their two trips to Golden State last season by an average of 8.5 points. … Memphis guard Tony Allen will miss the game after being suspended for kicking Los Angeles Clippers guard Chris Paul in the face on Monday. … Golden State center-forward Jermaine O’Neal (knee/groin) is not expected to play. … The Warriors assigned Dewayne Dedmon, Ognjen Kuzmic and Nemanja Nedovic to the Santa Cruz Warriors.
