Cal women knocked off by USC

BERKELEY— Kaneisha Horn and Alexyz Vaioletama scored 17 points apiece and USC overcame a 12-point second half deficit to upset California 65-54 on Sunday, handing the Bears just their third conference loss.

Cal (19-6, 11-3 Pac-12) trailed 27-25 late in the first, but closed on a 6-0 run — as USC missed its last five shots of the half — and led 33-25 at the break.

The Bears stretched the lead to 12 quickly before USC head coach Cynthia Cooper-Dyke called timeout less than two minutes after intermission. USC scored the next 11 points and took the lead, 45-44, on Horn's layup with 11:11 to go.

Cal retook the lead moments later, but Courtney Jaco's layup with 8:17 left gave USC the lead for good as Cal made one field goal in the last 8:50.

Alexis Lloyd finished with 14 points for USC (14-11, 6-8), with eight in the last eight minutes.

Reshanda Gray paced Cal with 32 points and 10 rebounds.
