Bay Area prep star commits to UCLA

Mitty of San Jose junior Drew Gordon, the West Catholic Athletic League’s Player of the Year and a top-15 boys’ basketball recruit nationally, has committed to play at UCLA. The 6-foot-9, 235-pound Gordon chose the Bruins over Cal, Washington, Arizona, North Carolina and Duke, according to a statement released by his family. Gordon averaged 13.6 points, 9.1 points and 3.6 blocks per game last season. He excels on the defensive end, which is a priority of UCLA coach Ben Howland.
