Jharel Cotton’s blister issues flared up again after Monday’s start against the Chicago White Sox, and the Oakland Athletics placed the right hander on the disabled list ahead of Thursday’s series opener in Seattle.
Marcus Semien was activated from the 60-Day Disabled List and Andrew Triggs was moved to the 60-day DL in a series of corresponding moves.
With the All-Star Break next week, it’s possible Cotton could miss just one start.
UPDATE: As reported by Susan Slusser, Chris Smith will start Saturday night in Seattle. Smith had an ERA of 2.92 in 13 long relief appearances for the A’s in 2016, his first MLB time since 2010, when he was a member of the Milwaukee Brewers. He will be opposed by rookie Andrew Moore.Jesse Hahnjharel cottonMajor League BaseballMarcus Semienmichael bradyMLBOakland Athleticszach neal
