A’s designate Moss for assignment

The Oakland Athletics designated Brandon Moss for assignment on Sunday morning, freeing up a roster spot to claim left-handed reliever Jairo Labourt.

Moss, who the A’s reacquired from the Kansas City Royals in a trade that centered around left-handed reliever Ryan Buchter, was off to a solid start in spring training, batting 4-for-10, but was a longshot to make the roster considering the logjam of corner outfielders. According to Susan Slusser, the 34-year-old will retire if he does not earn a major league roster spot. Moss hit 76 home runs for the A’s from 2012 through 2014, a stretch in which the club won two American League West Division titles.

As for Labourt, he made his MLB debut with the Tigers in 2017, allowing three runs in six innings.Brandon Mossjairo labourtMajor League BaseballMLBOakland Athletics
