All-City Football Team: Jovon Baker, Jamar Sekona earn Player of the Year

Our All-City teams were nominated by coaches of the San Francisco public high schools, along with City schools in the WCAL, as well as Marin Catholic. Coaches in many cases provided supporting arguments and statistics, as well as other awards and all-league teams to which their players had been named.

Sports editor Ryan Gorcey and preps reporter Ethan Kassel then debated and formed their own lists of players based on the nominations, then separated the candidates into first-team, second-team and honorable mention.

The Examiner’s Defensive PLayer of the Year hails from Marin Catholic: Two-way lineman Jamar Sekona. Our All-City feature on him can be read here.

The Offensive Player of the Year was Lincoln quarterback Jovon Baker. His story can be viewed here.
