49ers ask fans to arrive early

With a sold-out crowd descending on Monster Park for the 49ers' season opener Monday against the Arizona Cardinals, the team is asking fans to head to Candlestick Point early.

One reason is the Giants also play at home Monday against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Both the 49ers and Giants games start at 7:15 p.m. and fans attending either game figure to heavily use public transportation, not to mention the usual rush-hour traffic congestion on the highways and bridges.

Gates at Monster Park will open at 5 p.m.
