Outward Bound California City Skyline Challenge

Outward Bound California, a San Francisco-based outdoor education and leadership non-profit organization, hosted their third annual City Skyline Challenge fundraiser to raise funds for scholarships benefitting low-income Bay Area youth in San Francisco, Calif. Thursday, March 17, 2016.

To kick off the event, world-renowned Dawn Wall climber Kevin Jorgeson rappelled off the roof of the San Francisco Hyatt Regency, along with more than 100 others over two days. Outward Bound California hopes to raise $300,000 for students to participate in their rock climbing and backpacking programs from Oakland and San Francisco Unified School District schools and community non-profits.

Outward Bound California raises 1.3 million dollars annually for their scholarship fund. Josh Brankman, Executive Director of Outward Bound said, “We want to raise money for our scholarship fund but we also want others to learn about what Outward Bound California does for youth.” Photos and text by Emma Chiang/Special to the S.F.
