Mission Education Center students celebrate first Thanksgiving

Spanish-speaking immigrant students at Mission Education Center Elementary celebrated their first Thanksgiving on Thursday, November 16th, 2017, a week before the actual holiday. Students started the celebration with each class group performing in front of the rest, some singing, some reading poetry, and some playing recorders. Then it came time to feast, where students were served plates of traditional Thanksgiving foods such as turkey, cornbread, mac and cheese, and pumpkin pie. The food was provided by Geneva Excelsior Lions Club. Photos by Mira Laing/Special to S.F. Examiner.
