American Tulip Day gives away 100,000 free tulips

An estimated 5,000 people descended upon Union Square Saturday to get their pick of over 100,000 tulips. This is the second year for the celebration in San Francisco, but the seventh for the National Tulip Day in Amsterdam.

The tulip bulbs originated from the Netherlands, but were grown in California and then lovingly displayed by volunteers from various organizations.
