South Carolina governor awards big contributors with appointments to state posts

In the first few months of her term, South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley has appointed 59 people to state boards or commissions. And 26 of those appointees are big contributors who donated at least $74,703 to her campaign for governor.

Haley surprised many by naming to the University of South Carolina Board of Trustees a lawyer who gave her campaign $4,500 instead of a philanthropist who had donated $70 million to the school.
