Safe-driving spokesman's record hardly clean

North Dakota State football coach Craig Bohl — featured as a regional traffic-safety TV spokesman — has had at least 18 traffic-violation tickets since 2003. The Fargo police chief said Bohl would not have been picked if officials knew about his driving record, but he is keeping the commercial on the air. Bohl claims his bad driving record is why he did the ad. “I looked myself in the mirror and said, ‘I need to slow down,’” he said.
