Postage stamp Lady Liberty from Sin City, not the Big Apple

The U.S. Postal Service’s Statue of Liberty forever stamp is an imposter. The design is not based on the statue in New York Harbor, but on a replica outside the Las Vegas casino hotel New York-New York. Postal officials said they weren’t aware of the substitution until a stamp expert pointed it out. USPS officials said the stamp was based on a photo obtained from an agency that licensed it only as “Statue of Liberty.”
