Comic-book icon Superman announced that he is renouncing his American citizenship. In Action Comics No. 900, he explained, “I’m tired of having my actions construed as instruments of American policy.” However, it doesn’t seem as if he’s abandoning his longtime values of “truth, justice and the American way.” As a nearly omnipotent being ideologically aligned with the United States, Superman hopes to intercede against injustice beyond American borders without creating huge political fallout for the U.S. government.
