Hacker attack on Gawker Media causes chain reaction

A hacking attack on Gawker Media Inc. forced unrelated companies including Twitter, Google Inc., LinkedIn and Yahoo Inc. to start changing passwords en masse for users who reused the same username and password for the blog and for other, more sensitive accounts including personal e-mail.
