County's focus on teen drinking paying off

San Mateo County law enforcement agencies are making progress against teen drinking with a twice-a-week decoy sting operation targeting stores and individuals that sell alcohol to underage drinkers.

From July 2007 to June 2008 the team made 154 misdemeanor arrests during 21 operations.

Still, nearly four-fifths of county 11th-graders and two-thirds of ninth-graders said it was fairly easy to get alcohol.
