Zoo may close on Christmas

The City’s menagerie may close this Christmas as a result of the tiger attack that killed a 17-year-old on Dec. 25.

The Recreation and Park Commission will consider the proposal to allow for the closure at its 2 p.m. meeting today at City Hall in room 416.

According to a staff memo, the zoo and its employees have requested the closure, “out of respect for the events that occurred.”
