Young boy robs teenager at gunpoint in Western Addition

A boy with a handgun in his waistband stole another teenager’s smartphone in the Western Addition Tuesday night.

The young thief, described as between 12 and 15 years old, followed the 16-year-old girl victim when she hopped off a Muni bus at Turk and Pierce streets around 10:45 p.m., police said. He then ran up to her, and while flashing the gun in his pants, demanded her smartphone.

The girl listened, handed over her phone and was uninjured in the robbery.

No detailed description of the boy has been released by police.
