Woman shot during Western Addition purse snatch

A woman was shot by a crook attempting to steal her purse Sunday in San Francisco’s Western Addition neighborhood, police said.

The bullet grazed the 49-year-old woman’s stomach and lodged into her arm in the brazen attack on Geary Boulevard near Scott Street around 3 a.m. She is expected to survive.

The victim was walking west on Geary when a man in his 20s attempted to grab the purse off her shoulder, cops said.

During a brief struggle, the thug pulled out a handgun and fired, police said. The thug fled with her bag and a passerby called 911.

No arrest has been made.
