Woman attacked with broomstick in Polk Gulch

A 61-year-old woman was attacked by a man who punched her and jabbed her with a broomstick Wednesday before fleeing, said police.

The incident at Polk and O’Farrell streets began at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday when the pair got into an altercation. The 50-year-old male suspect first punched the woman in the face and then used the handle of a broomstick to strike her before fleeing.

She was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

No arrest has been made in the case.
