Victim ID’d in fatal stabbing near SF library

A 26-year-old man was fatally stabbed near San Francisco’s main library in the Civic Center area Friday night, according to police.

The victim was identified as Zachary Banks, who had no known address, according to the Medical Examiner’s Office.

The stabbing occurred at around 9:30 p.m. at Hyde and Fulton streets, less than a block from the main branch of the San Francisco Library.

The slaying marks the 48th homicide this year in San Francisco.

No further details were released.
