Military personnel on leave from Iraq and Afghanistan will be given free tickets by BART beginning in January. The transit agency, following an 8-1 vote on the proposal by its board of directors, says it’s the first major transportation agency to offer this promotion. Eligible personnel will receive one $50 BART ticket after showing their military ID and a valid leave order. Tickets are available at the Lake Merritt station.
