Union Square bicycle rental robbed at gunpoint in broad daylight

A Union Square bicycle-renting booth attendant was robbed at gunpoint by a man in the busy shopping area Tuesday afternoon, police said.

The armed robber walked up to the booth on Powell Street around 3:25 p.m. and pulled a handgun on the booth clerk, police said. He got away on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The 34-year-old man who was renting bicycles was not injured.

No detailed description of the suspect has been released.
