The University of California medical centers' patient care workers will hold a two-day strike at the end of the month, according to union officials.
Roughly 13,000 workers are affected by this decision. The group voted to authorize a strike earlier this month and as a result the date was set for May 21 and May 22 when pharmacy technicians, hospitality assistants and nurses will walk off the job.
The union has said numerous reasons, including layoffs and mismanagement in the institution, have led to this decision. UC officials say the negotiation holdups have been about pension reform.
