Two stabbed in front of Mission pizza parlor

One of two men who were stabbed after an argument in a Mission district pizza parlor early Friday suffered life threatening injuries, police said.

The 22-year-old men had been eating in the restaurant in the 500 block of Valencia Street, near 16th Street, about 2:15 a.m. when they got into an argument with as many as five unknown men, Officer Albie Esparza said.

When they left the eatery, Esparza said, they were attacked. One of the men was critically injured after being stabbed in the torso, while the other was stabbed in the buttocks.

The victims then reportedly attempted to drive to the hospital but got lost. On Eighth and Hooper streets, they pulled over, called police and were transported to San Francisco General Hospital, Esparza said.

The suspects fled after the incident and there have been no arrests.

The victims were intoxicated, Esparza said, and were unable to provide a clear version of what had happened or a description of the suspects.

“They didn’t know who did it because they were shielding themselves during the attack,” Esparza said. “There was also alcohol involved so some of the information was not too clear. They don’t remember much.”

A witness inside the pizza parlor confirmed the fight but did not see the stabbing, the police spokesman added.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call police.
