Tree-lighting ceremony brightens Golden Gate Park

San Francisco’s 81st annual Holiday Tree Lighting will take place today at McLaren Lodge in Golden Gate Park at 501 Stanyan St. The event will begin at 5 p.m. and feature live entertainment, activities for kids, refreshments, train rides and a visit from Santa Claus. John McLaren, The City’s first park superintendent, started the tree-lighting tradition in 1929.
