Three Muni riders attacked, robbed in separate incident Saturday

Three people were robbed and wounded Saturday in separate incident while riding Muni buses.

The first incident happened at 12:37 a.m. near 22nd and Mission streets when a 43-year-old man was knocked unconscious with a beer bottle during a robbery. The man had just gotten off a Muni bus when another man, who had also exited the bus, asked him for money. As the victim pulled out some cash, the suspect grabbed his wallet and the two began to struggle.

At some point the victim lost consciousness and was cut on the finger. He refused medical attention and his injuries were not life-threatening.

The suspect fled with the man's cash.

Later in the afternoon, a 32-year-old man was robbed at gunpoint and punched in the face by a man on a Muni bus near the Sunnydale housing projects.

The victim was preparing to exit the bus near Geneva Avenue and Carter Street at 2:30 p.m. when he was attacked and had his smartphone stolen. When he tried to get it back, the thief pulled out a black handgun. The man backed off, and the thief ran away with his phone.

On Saturday night in another robbery, a 50-year-old man got into an argument with another man on Muni and was eventually punched in the face and had his cellphone stolen.

The man was on a Muni bus at Mission Street and South Van Ness Avenue at 9:12 p.m. when the fight unfolded. He sustained minor injuries, but refused medical treatment.

The attacker fled and was not arrested.

Police were not given detailed descriptions of the thieves in any of the incidents.Bay Area NewsCrimeCrime & CourtsMuni attacksMuni robberiesSan Francisco Crime
