Thief swipes tips, hurls jar at pursuer

A thieving thug hurled a tip jar inside a Tenderloin restaurant Monday, injuring a person, but only after pocketing the tips, police said.

The suspect waltzed into the eatery on the 900 block of Larkin Street, swiped the tip jar, pocketed its money, and then hurled the jar at a person who chased after him around 7:20 p.m., police said.

A 53-year-old male victim suffered minor injuries after being struck by the jar. The suspect was described as a white man in his 20s.
