Police respond to the scene of a homicide near 25th and Dakota streets, where Rayshawn LaRue was fatally shot

Suspect in Potrero Hill homicide appears in court

The man charged with murder for allegedly killing another man on Potrero Hill appeared in San Francisco Superior Court on Wednesday but did not enter a plea.

Chris Brown, 49, was arrested early Monday morning and has been charged with murder, felony assault with a semi-automatic firearm and an additional firearm charge.

His arrangement was put over from Wednesday to Aug. 4, and his bail remains at $2 million.

Brown allegedly shot and killed Rayshawn LaRue, 48, near 25th and Dakota streets just after noon on July 20. LaRue was pronounced dead at the scene.

Brown was arrested in the area of 25th and Florida streets, about a mile from the scene of the crime.

Police did not disclose what evidence allegedly connected Brown to the shooting or his possible motivation.
