South City holds event to check kids’ toys for lead

State Assemblyman Jerry Hill, D-San Mateo, is hosting an event in South San Francisco Dec. 19 at which parents can check their kids’ toys for lead. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Fire Station 61, 480 N. Canal St. Technicians will check toys for lead content. A database also will be on site for people to check the safety level of toys they have at home or may be considering buying.
