A 41-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday after he allegedly punched a woman on a Muni light-rail vehicle in China Basin, police said.
The man, whose identity has not been released, is suspected of hopping on the streetcar while shouting, prompting an argument with a 39-year-old woman, police said. He is believed to have punched the woman around 7:25 p.m. near the intersection of Fourth and Berry streets.
The woman suffered back and facial injuries. Police did not say if she was taken to the hospital.
Earlier Wednesday in a separate incident, a 61-year-old man fell to the ground and struck his head when he was punched in the face at 24th and Mission streets, police said.
The suspect, a man in his 20s, reportedly walked up to the man around noon and punched him before fleeing in an unknown direction, according to police.
