SFUSD employee found dead in San Francisco Bay

A 67-year-old woman who was found dead in the San Francisco Bay early Tuesday morning has been identified as a longtime San Francisco Unified School District employee.

A witness observed a body floating in the bay near Aquatic Park at about 9:05 a.m. on Tuesday, and San Francisco fire officials who arrived at the scene declared the woman deceased, said a spokesperson for the San Francisco Police Department.

On Wednesday, the San Francisco Medical Examiner on Wednesday confirmed the name of the woman as Janeth Reynolds, who was a San Francisco resident.

Reynolds most recently was employed with the school district as a substitute paraprofessional, the San Francisco Chronicle first reported.

SFUSD spokesperson Laura Dudnick confirmed that Reynolds worked for the district as a child development paraprofessional for more than three decades, from 1973 until her retirement in 2006.

Police officials told the San Francisco Examiner that an investigation is currently pending the results of the Medical Examiner’s report, and it is unclear at this time if police will be looking into the incident as suspicious.
