School board meeting could be a marathon

Anyone planning to go to The City’s Board of Education meeting Tuesday night shouldn't forget to grab dinner beforehand because commissioners predict it’s going to be a doozy.

It’s not unusual for their meetings to have overwhelmingly long agendas that include hundreds of items like contracts for construction, but with resources running dry, veteran Commissioner Jill Wynns said the board plans to use more of a magnifying glass on the 331-page agenda.

The United Administrators of San Francisco, which represents assistant principals and other school administrators, is also proposing to reopen its contract to increase some salaries and provide more job security. The union is holding a public hearing on the proposal on Oct. 13.

The Board of Education will meet at its usual time at 6 p.m. at 555 Franklin St.
