9:50 p.m. Monday
A man was arrested for shoplifting alcohol, cops said. A security guard at the store told police he saw the thief stuff a bottle of alcohol down the front of his pants and then bypass all open registers on his way out of the store. The guard detained the crook and held him until police arrived.
5800 block of Mission Street
11 p.m. Monday
A good-hearted merchant’s cellphone was stolen and smashed by rogue creep, police said. The merchant said the suspect was a man who frequented his store and had asked to borrow the merchant’s phone. The creep then ran out of the store with it. The merchant gave chase and the suspect threw the phone at the ground. The victim provided surveillance footage of the suspect to police. The suspect remains at large.
Steiner and Eddy streets
12:40 p.m. Tuesday
A 15-year-old boy was robbed of his cellphone, wallet and iPod by two teenaged punks, cops said. No arrests have been made.
1300 block of Page Street
5:30 a.m. Tuesday
A man was arrested for burglary, police said. A woman awoke to the sound of a prowler outside her window. He fled when she called out to him. Cops arrived and found evidence of burglary in the flat’s garage. The resident pointed out the burglar to cops as he walked past the flat. The crook jumped on a bike and fled but cops caught the 36-year-old San Francisco man and arrested him.
