Erin Sherbert, who writes on the popular blog The Snitch for SF Weekly, has been named to the newly created position of director of online news for the San Francisco Newspaper Co.

Sherbert will oversee digital news content for all three of the company’s publications: The San Francisco Examiner, San Francisco Bay Guardian and SF Weekly. She will help management with the direction, content and evolution of the company’s editorial products.

Previously, she was online news editor for SF Weekly and a reporter for The S.F. Examiner.

“Erin has proven with her work on SFWeekly.com that she is connected with what San Franciscans are seeking: a mix of breaking news along with those truly only-in-San Francisco moments,” said Todd Vogt, president of the San Francisco Newspaper Co. “Her online and daily newspaper experience will be a great benefit to all of our publications and websites.”

“It’s an exciting job and I’m looking forward to it,” Sherbert said.
