Tailing a thief: An alert officer observed a stolen vehicle on the 1800 block of Sunnydale Avenue. Just before the vehicle took off, the driver was double-parked and chatting with a known Sunnydale gang member.
The driver, who was unlicensed and a resident of the 200 block of Teddy Street, had stolen the vehicle from a friend on Bay Street. He was arrested for grand theft auto and unlicensed driving.

Mission district, Noe Valley
Juvenile hooker: A suspicious woman was loitering and signaling to passing autos on 17th and Folsom streets at 8:55 p.m. Sept. 12. Prostitution abatement officers observed probable cause for an arrest.
The suspect appeared very youthful and was ultimately identified as a 15-year-old runaway from the North Bay. She was taken into custody and her legal guardians were notified.
Richmond
Richmond, most of Golden Gate Park
Attempted arsons: Several arson fires were reported on the 2100-2500 blocks of Sutter Street between 2:05 a.m. and 3:37 a.m. Tuesday. The persistent firebug started fires in trash and recycling bins.
One such garbage can blaze could easily cause a house fire.

Financial District, Nob Hill, Chinatown, North Beach, Russian Hill, Telegraph Hill
Bicycle bust: On Sept. 6, A bicycle officer on the Union Square beat at 5 p.m. arrested an individual on the 600 block of Leavenworth Street who was wanted on an outstanding criminal warrant and was in possession of narcotics paraphernalia.
Purses under attack: On Sept. 13 at midnight and Sept. 14 at 1 a.m., two separate purse snatches occurred at 501 Francisco and 55 Valparaiso streets. One suspect was described as a facially scarred man wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with rhinestones on it. The second suspect wore a black T-shirt with a logo.
