Rollicking Hardly Strictly bringing big names to city

Music aficionados and picnickers, get ready: The Hardly Strictly Bluegrass festival is wailing its way into The City, and bringing with it some big names.

The 10th annual festival — featuring an assortment of bluegrass, folk, country, blues, rock ’n’ roll and pop — will run Oct. 1-3 at Speedway Meadow in Golden Gate Park. Admission is free.

Highlights among the scheduled performers include Randy Newman, Jonathan Richman, Emmylou Harris, Elvis Costello and the Sugarcanes, Indigo Girls, Conor Oberst and the Mystic Valley Band, The Avett Brothers, Kinky Friedman, Jenny Lewis and Johnathan Rice, Steve Earle and the Dukes, Bonnie Prince Billy and the Cairo Gang, Michael McDonald and Boz Scaggs, T Bone Burnett and Friends, Patti Smith, Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings, Gillian Welch, Nick Lowe, Rosanne Cash and Fountains of Wayne.
