Richmond-San Rafael Bridge closed due to big-rig crashes

Multiple big-rig collisions closed the eastbound Richmond-San Rafael Bridge on Friday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A Sig-alert for the bridge was issued at 8:30 a.m., the CHP reported.

There is no estimate for when the eastbound direction would reopen, according to the CHP.

With a major storm passing through the Bay Area, the CHP has also issued Sig-alerts for westbound Interstate 80 in Berkeley, eastbound I-80 in Solano County, and northbound U.S. Highway 101 in San Francisco.

Sig-alerts for all three highways were issued just before 8 a.m.

Flooding on westbound I-80 at Gilman Street has closed the No. 6 lane and off-ramp; a big-rig crash is blocking the Nos. 1 and 2 lanes of eastbound I-80 between state Highway 113 and Richards Boulevard near the University of California, Davis.

Additionally, a downed tree is blocking the Nos. 3 and 4 lanes of northbound U.S. 101 near Vermont Street in San Francisco, according to the CHP.
