Public launch ready to set sail

The Port of San Francisco will officially open the Pier 52 boat launch today at 11 a.m.

The launch, located just south of AT&T Park on Terry Francois Boulevard, is the only public boat launch in San Francisco. It will be used by recreational boaters including kayakers, sailors, fishermen and power boaters.

The new $3.5 million facility replaces an existing facility that was a single-lane launch built in the 1950s, which did not meet modern-day boating requirements.
