Police have begun investigating an incident in which an officer arrested 18-year-old Zach Stow for skateboarding after the teenager called the officer a derogatory name.
In the video, the officer, who identifies himself as Officer Schwab, badge number 2099, threatens to break the teenager’s arm “like a twig.” He also later “placed [his] foot on [Stow’s] hip” because Stow allegedly refused to get in the car.
Unbeknownst to the officer, one of the skateboarder’s friends was holding a video camera at waist-height and recording the entire exchange.
The incident is now being investigated by the Office of Citizen Complaints.
Stow, interviewed by The Examiner, said he went to court the following morning and the charges were immediately tossed out. He said he’s considering filing a complaint. He also admitted that mouthing off to the officer was not the best idea.
“Yeah, that was kind of dumb,” Stow said.
