Police searching for man who stabbed woman in neck

Cops are hunting the coward who crept up behind a 36-year-old woman walking on the sidewalk in Potrero Hill just past midnight Thursday, stabbed her in the neck and then ran off with her purse.

The woman was fighting for her life after the vicious attack, which happened in the 2200 block of 18th Street, police said.

The suspect was described only as a Hispanic male, they said.

She was transported to the hospital, police said. San Francisco police spokesman Sgt. Michael Andraychak said further details on the attack were not immediately available.
